Youth Brigade return to Europe after 7 years!
Youth Brigade will be hitting the road in November to take their highly acclaimed movie "Let Them Know: The Story of Youth Brigade and BYO Records" to Europe. A 32 date tour will feature the band playing all their hits, new and old as well as select cities that will be screening the 25 year Anniversary documentary film in conjunction with the shows.

The movie will be shown with German and Spanish subtitles and the limited edition box set will be available for purchase at the shows.

Don't miss out, here's what the critics have to say:

"Itís a superb set, a testament to both the labelís never-say-die attitude and West Coast punkís enduring power overall." -OC Weekly

"Let Them Know ups the ante by providing what might be the definitive label history book. If any label out there is contemplating doing a retrospective in the future, BYO has the template for what must be done." - KC Pitch Weekly

"Punk would not be without BYO Records and Youth Brigade. Books and films have been written and filmed on the scene, but to hear it from the mouths of those who lived it and in many ways fostered it; that's the difference between the "primary" and "secondary" sources you heard about in high school. It's quite the package." -Aquarian Weekly

"I could go on forever listing the highlights, because it's pretty much all gold, in what is an incredibly well-crafted, informative and honest sounding collection of thoughts, flashbacks and sound-bites from a time that I would have loved to have experienced." - Keep It

"Their contribution and influence on the world of punk rock back in the early 1980s canít be denied and the scene wouldnít have been nearly as good if the Stern brothers never found punk rock."

"For any music historian, I would highly recommend watching Let Them Know."

"if youíre not considering buying this box set, thereís going to be an emptiness in your music collection, thus making the rest of your collection worthless without it." -Verbicide

"Every facet of the Southern California punk scene is accurately and magnificently represented. If youíre looking to reminisce the LA punk of yore, wanting to see where the scene is headed, in the need for a crash course, or looking for good music, BYO delivers. Happy Anniversary indeed." -Eleven Magazine
Absolute Punk review!
"It seems that the last few years have seen a plethora of "punk" documentaries. From American Hardcore (based on the book of the same name) to a semester of the genre packed into Punk: Attitude, we're certainly getting a visual of the 80's and 90's punk platform of yesterday. BYO Record's 25th anniversary documentary is not one to be shelved at all. Not only is there a visual, there's an audio accompaniment that is equally as nostalgic for some." Verbicide Review
Another great review from our friends at Verbicide! "Iím going to say this right off the bat: if youíre not considering buying this box set, thereís going to be an emptiness in your music collection, thus making the rest of your collection worthless without it. I was so excited to get my hands on this that I had to tell somebody. So I called my friend Alvin, who I assumed knew a lot about California punk rock. But when he told me that he never heard of Youth Brigade or BYO Records, I felt like shoving his ass into a time machine and transporting him to LA 25 years earlier. I had to resort to explaining that BYO was responsible for the Rancid/NOFX split ó that got the gears working in his head. I can only hope to god the rest of you donít disappoint me." We'll be posting previews, trailers, and other tidbits for your hungry punk fans in the coming months.

By the time the second wave of Los Angeles punk rock began to crest in the early 1980's, most historians had already closed the book. But things were just starting to get interesting. The music was becoming increasingly harder and faster. Politics became integral to the scene. Police-on-punk violence and massive riots were de rigueur meanwhile, the concept of "D.I.Y." transformed from a necessity to a battle cry. It was at this time that the Better Youth Organization was born.

Founded by Canadian brothers, Shawn and Mark Stern of the influential L.A. punk band Youth Brigade, the BYO was part political movement and part business venture. Through the BYO, Mark, Shawn and their buddies, teenagers at that time, found a way to organize punks to take positive actions to help sustain their scene and way of life. The ideals upon which the BYO was founded helped countless bands put on shows, put out records, and get their music out to the world. It allowed for the makaing of the landmark punk documentary "Another State of Mind." It also spawned BYO Records, which remains one of the oldest surviving independent punk rock labels in the world. BYO, Youth Brigade, and the Stern Family are three intertwined entities that comprise an all too often overlooked chapter in the history of punk. This movie is that chapter. Interviews with Ian MacKaye (Fugazi, Minor Threat, founder of Dischord Records), Fat Mike (NOFX, Me First & The Gimme Gimmes, founder of Fat Wreck Chords), Matt Skiba (Alkaline Trio), Gary Tovar (found of Goldenvoice Promotions), Brendan Mullen (founder of The Masque Club, author of "Lexicon Devil: The Fast Times and Short Life of Darby Crash and The Germs ", members of The Bouncing Souls, Swingin' Utters, 7 Seconds, and many others involved in the So Cal Punk Scene.
